My own story might be of interest:
Taking Propecia caused me major hairloss (hair-line recessed an inch, small bald spot at vertex, very thin on top) within two months starting from a baseline of no hair loss.
I'm 24 and just over two months ago took it into my head to take Propecia as a 'preventative' measure to ward of any future hair-loss. I've a balding uncle on my mother's side of the family and spent too much time 'surfing' the net.
In the first month all I noticed was oily greasy skin and scalp soreness, no hair loss because I didn't have any to start with.
In the second month my hair was just comming away in my hands. I also experienced a great increase in body hair.
I'm letting you know this to help settle the disputes about whether or not people are mistaking their original hair loss progression for hair loss caused by propecia. I didn't have hair loss and it made mine fall out.
Needless to say (at my doctor's advice) I have stopped taking propecia.
I'll let you all know in a couple of months what's happened regarding my hair loss.
If you don't hear from me, I've probably done something drastic (probably fatal). This is no joke to me. My doctor's assured me that my hair will grow back. But I figure it's probably like hair loss from using anabolic steroids. I probably can't live with knowing I've made myself go bald. Still I'll give it a couple of months (and some psychotherapy) and, like I said, if you don't see a post in that time you can figure out what happened :)
