The reason why I am still taking propecia is due to my hopes in seeing result in the long run... I've had a receding hairline since 18, but it's not a fast recession, actually, it's kinda slow, but it moves over the yrs... I have read, I think, 2-3-4 months ago an article in the New England Journal or Medicine were there may be a suspicion that propecia may slow/slop/reverse hairloss, and it may grow hair back at the rate it was lost; therefore, it may take up yrs for me to see good results...
I dunno if it will happen, but I think I will go to my second year and see what happens, cause 46$ a month is chump change for me, and maybe the accelerated hairloss will stop (genetically), or even reverse itself very slowly in time with propecia (Placing my hope in proven lab results, which has great influence on me because I am a research Tech).
Anyway, I still have lot's of hair. Its just that I see it isn't as thick as it was before, and it seems to be thinning over time.
OK, my hope, from the genetics aspect. My dad went through exactly what I am going through, and he still has plenty hair on his head, with just a mild widows peak, no biggy! So, if he can maintain the same widows peak for 25yrs, maybe I will to!? I am really not trying to destroy your, or anyones hope in getting results, but give it time, I believe with time you can/will draw a better more valid conclusion.
You may see shedding, then growth, but then the growth may continously grow/fall, till no longer growth...
Hey, what I have noticed in my experience, lots of aerobic exercise can put the scalp in optimal condition, therefore, Rogaine may not be needed. Cause blood vessle tend to grow all thew time, and if you exercise, oxygen and nutrients can be brought to every part of the body, much more efficiently!
Also, I have read that propecia blocks only one type of enzyme in the conversion to DHT, what happens with Type I alpha 5 reductase when type II is blocked? Most likely type I will have more of an opportunity to produce DHT. Maybe there is a balance/symbiosis, or competition with both the enzymes?
So, I would take Something that is proven to reduce type I enzymatic activity, along with propecia!
