I went through a phase of shedding after taking propecia for about eight months. I switched to Neutrogena t/gel shampoo and it seemed to really help. I heard that there is a build up of sebum--whatever that is--on the scalp and this causes the shedding. All I know is that my shedding phase is over and my hair looks very good. I am also using Minox 5% in addition to the propecia. I tried to get someone from the Merck company to talk to me but all I ever got was the B.S. promo stuff that they send prospective customers. That was very frustrating. I am very relieved that the shedding has gone away and strongly suggest that people use a Neutrogena type shampoo. Also adding the Minox 5% will help as well. Shedding seems to happen to quite a few people taking the drug but if you stop taking it you will never know if the stuff will work. Give it at least a year. Good luck!
